What a failed item does

Critical
Raises a defect pre-filled from the item, quarantines the RPA,
and blocks it on every operation until the Maintenance Controller clears it.

Non-critical
Raises a defect, but does not ground the RPA. It sits open in the
maintenance log and shows on the next inspection.

Optional
Recorded, but not required to answer — for items that only
apply to some jobs. A habitually meaningless answer is how checklists stop being
read.
